The Gordian Knot is an apt metaphor for the inaction that is common, well, for all of us at one time or another - one of the things I find helpful and I've developed into a kind of "matra" to take action is "don't decide for the customer" - so that 3rd cold call or that next speaking gig I start to question the value of, I say to myself - "just do this, don't decide for the customer, let them decide... now do it!"

Hope that helps!

I used to be afraid of public speaking too. I cured myself by getting a part-time job in the winter that forced me to speak publicly to new audiences throughout the day. Slowing down and organizing your thoughts helped for me. Then practice, practice, practice.

Dhyan,

Thank you so much for buying my book and for blogging about my observation on the introverted personality! It was really nice to see that my commentary resonated with you, I hope others got that too. As a introverted but driven person, I have always struggled in corporate America - I wanted to get to the top and hold an influential position, but I always felt a certain level of discrimination by the more outgoing people. With my own online business, its been like magic to see the difference, so I wanted to bring it up in the book for the benefit of others like me who may have felt the same.
Again, many thanks..hope you enjoyed the book.

Dhyan,
Just caught up with your blog and came to this. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family during this uncertain and unsettling time. And thank you for your willingness to share this on your blog--and for getting your blog underway so we can all benefit.
I've just added it to my RSS feed.
best, cj

This is so true. I do this every morning. I own my own Design business and run it from my home. I get to my desk every morning between 8 am and 9 am. I market, advertise, return emails, send emails, and make new business contacts and associates from the time I finally get to my desk until about noon. Then from noon on for the rest of the day I work on anything that needs to get done.

It is so much easier to not market, find excuses not to, or get distracted. I am a huge procrastinator. I do find myself fighting my own mind to get to work. Oh...the pitfalls of not having a boss to tell me to get back to work...
